# Step Voltage Regulator (SVR)

Representative configuration. The offered model, dimensions and interfaces are confirmed with the technical proposal.

Overview

Entogo supplies step voltage regulators for feeder voltage control. Reference configurations span 2.5–19.92 kV; select line current, insulation, connection and controller together rather than treating regulator kVA as total feeder capacity.

Entogo supplies this project equipment through manufacturing partners. Entogo Inc. in Toronto coordinates technical selection, supply scope and order support.

| Specification | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Construction | Liquid-immersed single-phase feeder regulator with tap controller |
| Reference voltage ratings | 2.5 / 5 / 7.62 / 13.8 / 19.92 kV; winding connection to confirm |
| Frequency | 50 / 60 Hz configurations |
| Reference operating point | 13.8 kV, 200 A, 276 kVA regulator rating |
| Insulation example | 13.8 kV reference row: 95 kV BIL |
| Control specification | Setpoint, bandwidth, time delay and line-drop compensation |
| Network duty | Forward/reverse power-flow mode and bypass arrangement to agree |
| Design reference | IEC/IEEE 60076-21, including the associated controller |

Reference configurations and selection criteria are shown together. The technical offer defines the matched ratings, tests and guaranteed performance for the ordered unit.

## Read the regulator rating correctly

The reference table pairs 13.8 kV and 200 A with a 276 kVA regulation rating. The single-phase through-load apparent power at that operating point is 2,760 kVA; the two figures describe different duties. Do not size a feeder by the regulation-kVA label alone.

Check connection, insulation and current together. A three-phase bank also needs an agreed connection and control strategy; it is not defined by ordering three identical cans.

## Applications

- Distribution feeders
- Network voltage management
- Utility upgrades

## Selection & project requirements

- **Why does 13.8 kV at 200 A show a 276 kVA regulator rating?**: The 276 kVA entry is regulation capacity, not the total power passing through the feeder. At 13.8 kV and 200 A the single-phase through-load figure is 2,760 kVA. Confirm the regulation range and bank connection for the order.
- **Can a feeder with solar export use the same controller settings?**: Not automatically. Reverse power flow changes the control problem. Define forward/reverse sensing, line-drop compensation, bandwidth and time delay from the feeder study, especially where generation and capacitor controls interact.
- **Is a feeder regulator interchangeable with an industrial AVR?**: No. A feeder regulator is selected for network voltage, line current, insulation and feeder control. A low-voltage stabilizer serves connected loads. They address different installation and operating duties.
- **How should a North-American utility specify the unit?**: Provide its regulator specification, rated winding connection, insulation level, current, bypass scheme and controller/communications requirements. IEC/IEEE 60076-21 is a design reference; utility acceptance and the exact test schedule still need agreement.

For Canadian and US projects, include the utility specification, service frequency and required approvals. State whether the order is for the transformer alone or an integrated equipment package.

## Discuss your equipment requirements

Send your single-line diagram, load or process data, target market and required schedule. We will identify the configuration and documents needed for a technical quotation.
