Switchgear & Circuit Breakers

Dead Tank Circuit Breaker

Representative configuration. The offered model, dimensions and interfaces are confirmed with the technical proposal.

Overview

Entogo supplies outdoor dead-tank circuit breakers for substation switching and protection. A 72.5 kV SF6 configuration is a reference enquiry point; continuous current, breaking duty, insulation and site conditions are specified together.

Entogo supplies this project equipment through manufacturing partners. Entogo Inc. in Toronto coordinates technical selection, supply scope and order support.

Specification Value
Construction Outdoor dead-tank circuit breaker; tank at earth potential
Reference voltage class 72.5 kV configuration; other classes require a separate proposal
Reference insulation medium SF6; an SF6-free design is not implied
Continuous current Rated amperes selected for circuit loading and temperature rise
Breaking performance Short-circuit breaking current, TRV and operating sequence
Mechanism Trip/close supply, operating mechanism and interlocks to agree
Instrument transformers CT ratios, cores, accuracy and protection duties if included
Design reference IEC 62271-100 or the agreed IEEE/utility specification

Reference configurations and selection criteria are shown together. The technical offer defines the matched ratings, tests and guaranteed performance for the ordered unit.

Specify the interruption duty, not just the voltage class

A 72.5 kV designation does not define short-circuit breaking capacity. Include the available fault current, transient recovery voltage requirements and operating sequence from the protection study.

This is standalone substation equipment. It is not the withdrawable breaker inside a metal-clad panel. Define foundations, clearances, control cabling, earthing and instrument-transformer interfaces as part of the purchase scope.

Applications

  • Utility substations
  • Industrial substations
  • Line and transformer switching

Selection & project requirements

Does 72.5 kV tell me the breaker’s interrupting capacity?
No. Rated voltage, continuous current and short-circuit breaking current are separate parameters. The required breaking duty and transient recovery voltage must be checked against the network study and the selected breaker’s test evidence.
Is the pictured configuration SF6-free?
No SF6-free claim is made. The reference configuration uses SF6. If the project requires another insulation/interruption arrangement, state that requirement before a model is proposed and verify the offered configuration explicitly.
Are current transformers included in a dead-tank breaker?
They may form part of the selected arrangement, but inclusion is not automatic. Specify ratios, protection/metering cores, accuracy, burden and terminal interfaces so the quotation clearly defines the CT scope.
What information is needed for a utility protection review?
Provide the fault-duty and insulation study, operating sequence, control supply, protection logic, CT requirements and site conditions. Agree the applicable IEC/IEEE basis, witness tests and utility acceptance documents for that exact model.

For Canadian and US projects, include the utility specification, service frequency and required approvals. State whether the order is for the transformer alone or an integrated equipment package.
