Low-Voltage Switchboard (UL 891)

≤ 600 V · up to 6000 A

Overview

A dead-front low-voltage switchboard for ≤ 600 V, 60 Hz service-entrance and distribution — up to 6000 A and 200 kA, with group-mounted molded-case or insulated-case breakers, for commercial, institutional and industrial buildings. Designed to UL 891; UL (cULus) / CSA certifiable.

This dead-front low-voltage switchboard handles service-entrance and feeder distribution on ≤ 600 V, 60 Hz systems, with bus ratings from 800 to 6000 A and short-circuit ratings to 200 kA. Group-mounted molded-case or insulated-case breakers give a flexible, sectionalized layout, and a service-entrance-rated configuration with metering provisions handles the utility tie-in for commercial, institutional and industrial buildings.

Engineered for safety, economy and reliability, it offers high breaking capacity, good dynamic and thermal stability and a compact structure for building electrical rooms, in NEMA 1 indoor or 3R outdoor enclosures. Designed and built to UL 891 with molded-case breakers to UL 489, and UL (cULus) / CSA certification available on request.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the difference between a switchboard and switchgear?
A UL 891 switchboard uses group- or individually-mounted molded-case / insulated-case breakers and is typically front-accessible — ideal for service entrance and building distribution. Drawout UL 1558 switchgear is a higher tier for mission-critical systems needing 30-cycle withstand and withdrawable breakers.
What ratings and standards apply?
≤ 600 V, 800 – 6000 A, up to 200 kA short-circuit, 60 Hz, with a service-entrance-rated option. Designed to UL 891; UL (cULus) / CSA certification available on request.
